As part of the Bradshaw Foundation - American Rock Art Archive, we present here a selection of photographic images from the Coso Range. One of the more spectacular expressions of prehistoric rock art in all of North America is the petroglyph concentration in this region of eastern California. The petroglyphs consist of rock carvings depicting animals, abstract symbols and anthropomorphic figures.
For more information on Coso Range rock art, read Dr. Alan P. Garfinkel's reasearch paper Paradim Shifts, Rock Art Studies, and the "Coso Sheep Cult" of Eastern California - NORTH AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGIST, Vol. 27(3) 203-244, 2006.
