The World Heritage Site of Avebury, in the English county of Wiltshire, represents an unparalleled Neolithic and Bronze age monumental landscape.
In normal circumstances, visiting Avebury - only twenty miles from Stonehenge - is a fulfilling experience; there are no queues, no entry fee, and visitors can touch the stones.
