Rock Art Symposium in San Francisco: papers representing rock art scholarship throughout the Americas. The Society for American Archaeology and the California Rock Art Foundation are jointly sponsoring a symposium on World Rock Art Studies during their 80th Annual Meeting in San Francisco at the Hilton Hotel.
The Symposium is jointly chaired by Dr. Alan Garfinkel and Professor Mary Gorden of the California Rock Art Foundation. Fifteen papers representing rock art scholarship throughout the Americas are slated. These include academic presentations on the rock art from the Caribean, mainland Mexico, Baja del Sur, Lower California, Mexico, and throughout the United States (including California, Nevada, Texas, and Utah).
The session runs throughout the afternoon on Saturday, April 18th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Discussants include review and reflections by Dr. Alan Garfinkel and Professor Mary Gorden.
